Best For
Crypto-native users who prioritize shared-custody security, stablecoin holders wanting everyday spending options, international travelers benefiting from zero FX fees, and reward maximizers seeking substantial cashback on regular spending.
Custody Model
hybrid
Private keys are split via MPC (Multi-Party Computation): one share on user device, one on COCA servers. Both shares must participate in every transaction. The full key is never assembled in normal use. Users cannot transact without COCA's participation; COCA cannot spend without user.
Risk: If COCA disappears and key not exported, funds are inaccessible. The Recovery Phrase only works within COCA app and cannot restore funds independently. This creates vendor lock-in that contradicts true self-custody. Private key export option exists but requires deleting wallet from COCA.

Conclusion
The COCA Card presents a compelling case with its unique combination of exceptional rewards and minimal fees. Users can benefit from up to 8% cashback on purchases (depending on tier), 50% rebates on popular subscriptions (Netflix, Spotify, ChatGPT, Amazon Prime), and access to COCA Travel's hotel discounts of up to 50%. This value is enhanced by zero fees on most common transactions, high daily spending limits, and the absence of FX fees, making it particularly attractive for travelers and those making large purchases in supported regions. However, these advantages come with significant trade-offs and risks. The card is not fully non-custodial as advertised; its MPC wallet design creates a critical vendor lock-in. The proprietary Recovery Phrase cannot be imported into other wallets, meaning users would lose access to their funds if the COCA platform were to disappear. Ultimately, while the COCA Card offers many attractive benefits backed by strategic investment from the Stellar Development Foundation and FunFair Ventures, they do not come for free. The generous rewards are coupled with a significant platform dependency that contradicts the spirit of true self-custody.
